Lead Belly

"While scoring "Lead Belly", I spent time researching PTSD and learning more about the experiences of veterans. I wanted to better understand and empathize with their inner world, and to reflect the emotions, memories, and struggles that are often difficult to express in words.

At the same time, I wanted to highlight the film's ethereal and dreamlike side. To create a sense of something spiritual and beyond reach, I used a lot of atmospheric vocal layers throughout the score. These ethereal vocals help blur the line between reality and fantasy, supporting the film's emotional and symbolic themes.

The score is built around one main musical theme, which returns in different forms throughout the film. By developing the music from a single theme, I aimed to create a strong sense of connection and continuity across the story.

I also experimented with unusual percussion sounds, using cans and glass bottles as instruments. These sounds added texture and character to the score, creating an interesting contrast with the softer vocal elements and helping to shape the film's unique sonic world."
